Baby care game 8 —- mama’s scent
suitable for ages 0-12 months babies
Instruction
Keep a burp cloth or blanket on you, especially when you are nursing. The scent of your milk, your skin, your flavor and of baby will seep into the fabric and it can provide comfort when another caretaker is with baby. But when baby is young, don’t put loose blankets or pillows in a crib unless tightly swaddled, so don’t leave this cloth with baby unsupervised.
Baby Care game 9 — Problem-sloving experiences
Suitable for ages 6 months and up babies
Instruction
Look before you leap into sloving baby’s dilemmas, and figure out what baby is trying to do. Support and encourage baby’s effort, allow baby to do what he or she is able to do. Help with tasks that prove too frustrating. For example, your baby crawls under a coffee table and starts to cry. At this moment, you may involve your baby by lying down on the floor and talking about the situation instead of running over and pulling him or her out, you may try to talk to your baby :” I see you’re stuck under here. Don’t worry, mom is here” then gently guide baby out. Episodes like this will happen often and are real learning experiences in problem-solving.
Baby care game 10 — Self-feeding
Suiteable for ages 6-12 months babies
Instruction
When baby wants to grab the spoon, you may take it as a sign that they want to feed themselves. Here are some ideas to help make this transition successful.
1) Use unbreakable, child-sized utensils.
2) Offer finger food— small pieces of soft food that baby can easily pick up, such as bananas.
3) Offer small quantities of food. Baby can always have more and there won’t be so much mess to clean up.
4) Self-feeding is most successful in a relaxed atmosphere.
5) When baby stops eating, end the meal and clear baby’s place.
Baby care game 11 — bathroom exploration
Suitable for ages 12 months and up babies
Instruction
Spend some time exploring the bathroom with your baby. Show baby different objects are used in the bathroom. Show baby how they work together, like a toothbrush and toothpaste, hairbrush and hair, sponge and soap, etc. You may also wet baby’s hands and dry them with a towel. Fill in the bathtub a little and talk about how the water in and out. Flush the toilet several times. You know, even if baby is not able to ask questions, he or she is still wondering.
Baby care game 12– baby gab
Suitable for ages 9 months and up babies
Instruction
When you hear your baby’s words come trickling out, now more than ever, speak clearly and directly to baby. Use fewer words such as,”let’s wash hands, it’s dinner time,” instead of, “it’s time to wash your hands because we’re going to be eating dinner in about five minutes.” When baby talks to you, respond and add to what was said. Baby might say, “Mom eat,” and you repeat, ” yes, Mom is going to eat”.
